Key Prerequisites:

  • Education – Grade 8 to 10
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Lifeguarding Award (Bronze Certificate)
  • Physical Presentability
  • Minimum 1-year Lifeguard Experience
  • Surf Proficiency Award Certificate
  • Valid Retest Certificate

Primary Responsibilities:

As a seasonal lifeguard, you’ll play a crucial part in safeguarding our city’s beaches. While the tasks are considerable, the opportunities to make a difference are innumerable. Your services will be needed across various workstations in the coastal and inland region at your own expense. Here’s what to expect:

  1. Rescue persons from drowning incidents.
  2. Ensure local beach conditions are safe by patrolling City beaches.
  3. Provide first aid care to the injured.
  4. Operate rescue equipment including an inflatable boat.
  5. Maintain compliance with pool and public safety by-laws.
  6. Assist in the setup of Gala events.
  7. Take note of pool temperature readings.
