Department of Social Development (DSD)

The Department of Social Development is dedicated to empowering the underprivileged, vulnerable, and excluded individuals in South African society to improve their quality of life. Through collaborative efforts with various stakeholders, the department focuses on managing and overseeing social security programs to alleviate poverty caused by life cycle risks like unemployment, disability, and old age. Additionally, it provides developmental social welfare services, partnering with State-Funded Institutions, NGOs, CBOs, and FBOs to address poverty, vulnerability, and the impact of HIV/AIDS through sustainable development programs.
