The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) in South Africa is dedicated to contributing to a just, peaceful, and safer South Africa by effectively and humanely managing inmates, and promoting rehabilitation and social reintegration. With strategic objectives that range from enhancing service delivery, ensuring safe and humane incarceration conditions, to providing offenders with education, health services, and restorative justice access, the DCS seeks to reduce re-offending and foster law-abiding citizens. The DCS, together with the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services, work collaboratively towards these shared goals.
