Department of Defence is offering a competitive salary package ranging from R344 811 – R389 592 per annum, based in the Fleet Maintenance Unit, Simon’s Town.

Job Requirements

Qualification Experience Other Requirements
Appropriate Trade Test Certificate 5 Years Post Qualification Experience as an Artisan Valid Drivers License

Additional Skills:

  • Prior maritime experience would be an added advantage.
  • Must possess knowledge of Refrigeration test equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable machinery relating to refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Ability to conduct technical training, compile documentation, and write technical reports.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages and other computer-aided technical applications.
  • Knowledge on Legal Compliance, safety standards and Conflict Managements.
  • Planning and Organising skills. Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Command over English (both written and verbal) is a must.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provisioning advice, guidance, and training to junior artisans and apprentices.
  • Operating machinery equipment.
  • Interpreting job specifications from instructions, drawings, samples, and templates.
  • Conforming to all safety and quality regulations.
  • Physically fit to work on ships and submarines.
