Introducing Volkswagen

Volkswagen Group South Africa, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Germany-based Volkswagen Aktiengessellschaft (VWAG), took root in 1946. Its establishment marked the largest German investment in South Africa. Located in Uitenhage, an industrious town 35 kilometers from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, the company’s influence spread through substantial foreign direct investment, technological transfer, and skills development.
