From timber processing to harvesting, the company’s range of activities stretches both locally and on a global scale. The entity operates under the supervision of the Department of Public Enterprises and has established its presence in various locations across South Africa such as KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga.

The SAFCOL Artisan Development Programme – Waiting for your Contribution!

The South African Forestry Company Limited (SAFCOL) is providing an apprenticeship opportunity for the young citizenry advocating a brighter future filled with skilled artisans. The SAFCOL Apprenticeship Scheme is all set to unfold in Louis Trichardt (Makahado).

In this programme, chosen candidates will acquire knowledge that can fortify their practical skills and workforce competencies. The activities involved in this scheme adhere to the regulations of the Skills Development Act. All apprentices must undergo and complete a final assessment to acquire their Qualified Artisan certificate.

For those curious and interested, note that candidates must not be employed at the moment of registration. Upon successful application, aspirants will gain training from a trusted Training Centre. Subsequently, apprentices are expected to perform their tasks at the Timbadola sawmill owned by the company. The duration of the apprenticeship extends to around three years, during which apprentices should focus on strengthening their trades.

The programme grants a monthly allowance to appease apprentices on their journey.

Eligibility Criteria includes:

  1. Being a recognized citizen of South Africa
  2. Being aged between 18-35 years old at the time of the programme
  3. Being currently unemployed
  4. Achieving stellar results (optional, but advantageous)
  5. Having an N2/Level 3 Technical Vocational, Education and Training (TVET) certificate in one of the aforementioned fields
