Key Duties
- Moving and arranging materials and stock within the warehouse as required.
- Sorting, organizing, and storing stock in the appropriate bin locations.
- Performing accurate stock selection using a handheld scanner or picking slip.
- Handling, arranging, and stacking large items.
- Packaging and labeling items accurately and to a high standard.
- Carefully reviewing and packaging every order prior to its delivery.
- Scanning and prepping items for delivery.
- Delivering supplies, finished goods, and parcels to designated areas.
Essential Communications
In this role, you’ll be expected to communicate effectively with the line manager regarding any machinery or procedural problems. You’ll also be responsible for preparing and dispatching goods for shipment, conducting thorough quality assurance testing on products, and maintaining a well-organized inventory system.
Inventory Management
Stock management is a significant aspect of this role. Therefore, it is vital you ensure all inventory is stored correctly in the warehouse, carry out regular cycle counts and stocktakes, and prepare necessary documentation for audits. You’ll also have a responsibility to uphold housekeeping standards, keeping the workplace free from wrapping, waste, and damaged stock.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants are required to have a Grade 12 or equivalent qualification and a minimum of 1-year experience in a warehouse environment, particularly receiving, picking, packing, checking, replenishing, and dispatching stock. Previous experience with handheld scanning devices or material handling equipment would be highly beneficial. The ability to work overtime, including shifts and weekends, is also required, as well as physical stamina to stand for lengthy periods and move stock around the warehouse.
