Position: Food Services Aid

Location: Overberg District, Hermanus Hospital

Remuneration: R125,373 per annum

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills are a prerequisite.
  • Prior experience in an Industrial Food Services Unit will be advantageous.

Key Job Requirements:

Candidates must be prepared to work shifts and overtime, inclusive of weekends and public holidays. The nature of the job demands a healthy individual with physical strength to lift heavy objects and maintain work efficiency throughout the day. Routinely entering hospital wards is a part of the job profile.

Competencies:

The profile calls for deep knowledge in food production for normal and therapeutic diets in an Industrial Food Service Unit on a large scale. The candidate must be well aware of hygiene, occupational health, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and safety principles. Good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in the receipt and storage of all provisions and stock within the food service unit.
  2. Planning and producing all normal and therapeutic diets.
  3. Effectively weighing, dishing, and distributing food to various wards.
  4. Maintaining cleanliness in all areas, utensils, and equipment within the Food Service Department.
  5. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  6. Adhering to PAWC standardized Receipts and menus.
  7. Following control measures and standard operational procedures.
  8. Monitoring the quality control of food according to standardized recipes.
