Job Role: Truck Assistant

The Truck Assistant’s main task is to back up the driver in the secure loading and unloading of glass products. This involves assisting the driver with the vehicle’s navigation and ensuring the safe transportation of the customer’s goods. Load security as per preset procedures gets special emphasis. Key functions of this role include:

  • Identifying suitable locations for loading and unloading.
  • Accomplishing a quality check sheet during the loading phase.
  • Safe loading and unloading of goods.
  • Reporting any property damage and aiding the driver.
  • Verifying that the load is properly secured before leaving the customer’s location.
  • Helping the driver during the truck’s reversing or maneuvering, particularly in tight or blind-spot locations.
  • Maintaining paperwork control whenever feasible.
  • Following all work instructions, operating standards, and company policies.
  • Upholding the environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards.
  • Availability to work extra hours and weekends if needed.

Job Requirements

– Valid Code 10 or higher driver’s license with a PrDP is beneficial.		 – Independent and self-motivated.

– Strong interpersonal skills for customer interaction.		 – Experience with handling and transporting dangerous goods.
– Awareness about different types of glass products.
– Familiar with reading drawings and production orders.
– Relevant glass handling and quality control experience.
