The Academy, inaugurated in 2000, stands steadfast in its commitment to provide secretarial training to individuals hailing from underprivileged backgrounds. Operating under the Services SETA accreditation, it proudly carries the registration number 12842. The courses offered at the Academy focus on the enhancement of Business Administration Services. Furthermore, it provides the Further Education and Training Certification which is recognized at the NQF Level 4 (SAQA ID 61595 LP35928).

Our Mission

The Academy takes pride in its determined efforts to provide in-depth training to ensure its graduates are ready for work after the completion of their course. The Academy limits its admission to only twelve candidates each year. These candidates are chosen following thorough assessments of their computer, language, and keyboarding skills.

The Training Process

  1. The curriculum at The Academy extends over one year, beginning on March 1 and culminating on February 28 the next year.
  2. Candidates are evaluated through exams conducted mid-year and at the end of the year.
  3. Practical training sessions encompass areas such as Patents, Trade Marks, Commercial work, and Conveyancing departments.
  4. Phase I: Duration of 5-6 months focusing on typing/keyboarding skills and introduction to the legal environment.
  5. Phase II: Advanced training in area of typing speed, audio typing, spreadsheets, presentations, note-taking, letter writing and memos.

Course Content

The Academy’s curriculum covers a detailed list of subjects:

  • Computyping (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • Typing speed (with the goal of achieving 60 wpm)
  • Audio Typing
  • Basic Accounting
  • Legal Theory
  • Basic English (writing, reading, comprehension, and advanced spelling)

  • Time Management
  • Financial Planning

  • Practical Training (Administrative and Secretarial)
  • Business Administration Services Qualification (Learnership)

Eligibility Criteria

The Academy welcomes applications from individuals aged 18-25 who hold a Matric certificate with Computer Applications Technologies or a Post-matric qualification with Typing/Keyboarding and proficiency in MS Office applications (with a minimum typing speed of 25 wpm). To be eligible, candidates must also demonstrate fluency in English and a strong work ethic coupled with a voracious appetite for learning.

Course Cost

The training at the Academy is offered without any cost implications. Furthermore, the Academy provides a stipend to its learners during their learnership period to cater to their needs.

Application Timeline

The Academy accepts applications from October 1 to October 15 for the upcoming year’s course only. However, the Academy reserves the right to withdraw its advertisement at any given time.

Please note that this is a 12-month full-time course, which both mentally and physically demanding.
