About the South Africa International Maritime Institute (SAIMI)

The South Africa International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) facilitates the growth of the Blue Economy by driving education, training, research, and skills advancement in the maritime industry. Aligned with the developmental needs of the country and the needs of the continent, SAIMI is committed to progressing the maritime coverage across all stakeholders. It strives to strengthen participation across multiple levels within the sector, leveraging each player’s unique strengths and capabilities for the benefit of South Africa’s maritime industry.

SAIMI Bursaries 2024

For the year 2024, SAIMI is extending financial aid opportunities to South African women pursuing Maritime studies at Undergraduate, Honours, Master’s, and PhD levels. The financial coverage offered as part of the bursary program encompasses tuition fees, accommodation, textbooks, and meal allowances. As beneficiaries, the students will also have the opportunity to attend, participate and gain exposure at maritime conferences and SAIMI-related events.

Undergraduate Honours Masters PhD
17-25 years old, Finished or pursuing Matric qualification, At least an average aggregate score of 70% if currently studying, Obtained A and B symbols for Matric qualification Minimum of 1 year of academic studies, Overall average aggregate of 70% at Undergraduate level Minimum of 1 year of academic studies, Overall average aggregate of 65% at Honours level Minimum of 1 year of academic studies, Overall average aggregate of 60% at Masters level
