SACAP (The South African College of Applied Psychology) is the leading independent provider of accredited Psychology, Counselling, Human Resource Management, Business Management and Social Work qualifications, with all courses grounded in psychology. We have campuses in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Online.SACAP is looking to employ a Student Wellness Advisor for the Johannesburg campus. This role will provide a full range of psychosocial support and development services to ensure students achieve optimal mental and emotional health. The role will serve as a trusted resource for students in need of support and guidance, providing counselling, resources, and referrals as needed. It will also work collaboratively with other members of the institution, including faculty, staff, and administrators, to promote a healthy campus environment and help students thrive both academically and personally. This role strongly liaises with the Student Administration team and academic team and reports directly to the Student Wellness Manager.Duties include but are not limited to:Provide individual and/or group counselling (including crisis intervention / debriefing) to students in need of mental health supportActing as a point of contact for all student wellness support and development needs;Take on a lead role in student wellness and mental health awareness campaigns and projectsResponding to and resolving student queries within the stipulated time frames;Involved in termly orientation per new cohort;Develop and implement mental health outreach initiatives, including workshops, group sessions, and community events, to promote mental health and wellness among students.Tracking and documenting national student wellness support and development metrics;Study plans and career guidance;Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to develop and implement policies and programs that support student well-being and promote a healthy campus environment. Identifying at-risk students and tracking retention;Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interactions with students, including progress notes and treatment plans.Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in mental health counselling and wellness promotion.Utilising SACAP’s Student Management System to provide expert guidance to SACAP students.May act as site coordinator to student counsellors completing their practicum / Work Integrated Learning hours.QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCESA minimum of a degree qualification in the discipline of Counselling, Psychology or CoachingRegistered Counsellor with HPCSAAdvanced computer literacy skills, including online systems2 years of full-time experience, preferably within the field of Higher Education.Knowledgeable and passionate about SACAP and its offeringsHighly developed relationship building / interpersonal skillsExcellent written and spoken communication skillsPERSONAL ATTRIBUTESA passion for Student WellnessResponsible, reliable and purpose driven in their approach Self-motivated and holds themselves to a standard of excellence when completing tasks Is flexible and adaptable where needed to achieve results Displays high integrity in all situations Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsEmpatheticIs diplomatic, professional and person-centred in their interactionsManages stress well and has the ability to work under pressureThis role reports directly to the Student Wellness Manager and will work closely and collaboratively with the broader national student support and development teams.Operating Hours:This is a full-time position operating from Mondays to Fridays*Monday – Thursday:   08:00 – 16:30Friday:                      08:00 – 16:00*Note that you will be required to administer various student support webinars during the evenings, and/or attend Open Days from time to time, and therefore flexible hours do apply.Application Process:Kindly submit your Curriculum Vitae and a copy of your Identity Document via the SACAP Careers Portal by 30 April 2024.*This role will require the candidate to work flexible hours due to operational requirements.
