It is home to some of the best-known South African tea, coffee and creamer brands, including our delicious range of much-loved savoury and sweet biscuits, and our melt-in-your-mouth snack range.An exciting opportunity exists for a SHE Officer at NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Isando Biscuits factory. The purpose of the role is to oversee all safety and environmental matters to ensure that the site complies, at a minimum, with all statutory requirements. The role includes the supervision and control of fire and security risks and waste management for the site.                                                                                                                      Line Manager: SHE Manager Job Specification:Key Performance Areas:SafetySite compliance with OHS Act and other relevant regulations and legislation, including:Legal appointments, SHE committee, permitsSet up and facilitate risk assessment sessions to reduce risks to acceptable levelsVisible safety leadership, including; red tagging, housekeeping, and signage update programsReport on and investigate all incidents and near missesContractor compliance including induction, 37(2) Mandatory agreements and COID registration controlVisitor induction upgradeConduct internal compliance and safety audits, report on findings and manage issue log through to completion.Relevant health and safety training for staff as required, including; first aid, firefighting and SHE repAdvise the 16(2) and GMR 2(1) responsible people on all SHE issuesLiaise with DOL and municipalities where requiredKeep up to date with changes in current legislation and implement such changes where relevantStop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthyMonitor the activities of the permit to work (PTW) and ensure that it complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.Environmental and waste managementList and manage aspects and impacts relating to environmental requirementsSupervise and control waste management contractors and report on performanceFire and Security RiskFire and Emergency response protocol and emergency preparedness of siteConduct fire drillsFire equipment audits, inspections and testsCo-ordinate with group risk advisory (AVI and Marsh) and facilitate auditsImprove practises and system to improve Marsh risk audit scoringDrive loss prevention and risk reduction programs at the site.Monitor and manage the security contractorManage CCTV system and interactions with ITSS to ensure continued operation of the surveillance systemMinimum Requirements:Experience:                                                                    5 years’ experience in a similar role either as a SHE Officer / SHE ManagerExperience working within an FMCG manufacturing environment essentialPrevious Food Manufacturing experience would be highly advantageousQualifications:Grade 12/ MatricDiploma or Degree in Safety Management / Occupational Health and SafetySAMTRAC Health and Safety Course Additional courses in Safety, Health and Environmental management would be advantageousAdditional Requirements:Specialist knowledge of and practical application of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Occupational Injuries and Diseases ActStrong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail and a methodical approachIT literate and a comprehensive understanding of Windows-based programs including Word, Excel and Outlook is essentialStrong teamwork skillsProfessional approach in dealing with issues and employeesExperience in implementing and maintaining the ISO 45001:2018Competencies:Documenting FactsThinking RationallyBuilding RelationshipsArticulating InformationStaying ComposedAttention to DetailMinimising RiskPersisting
