Job Description

Managed Talent Solutions’ external client is looking for a Radio Frequency (RF) Specialist for one of their clients based in Johannesburg. This is a fixed contract to end of 2024, further extension might be possible depending client requirements. The Radio Frequency (RF) Specialist must have experience in RF Network Planning: They plan and design RF networks to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and performance based on the region’s geographical and demographic characteristics.Key outputs:RF Network Planning: They plan and design RF networks to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and performance based on the region’s geographical and demographic characteristics.Frequency Spectrum Management: They manage the allocation and utilization of frequency spectrum within their region to minimize interference and maximize efficiency.RF Performance Optimization: They continuously monitor and analyze RF performance metrics, such as signal strength, quality, and interference levels, and implement strategies to optimize network performance.Troubleshooting and Maintenance: They troubleshoot RF-related issues and perform regular maintenance activities to ensure the smooth operation of communication systems.Regulatory Compliance: They ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing RF communication, including licensing requirements and emission limits.Collaboration: They collaborate with other teams, such as network operations, engineering, and regulatory affairs, to coordinate activities and resolve complex RF-related challenges.Configuring wireless technology spans a spectrum of setups, encompassing wireless MESH networks, access points, and point-to-point links, all tuned to available frequencies.Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, telecommunications engineering, or a related field is required. Technical knowledge:RF Engineers should possess strong technical skills, including:Proficiency in RF theory and principles, including modulation techniques, antennas, propagation, and transmission line theory.Knowledge of RF measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.Familiarity with RF simulation and design software such as ADS (Advanced Design System), HFSS (High-Frequency Structure Simulator), or similar tools.Rajant Certification is optionalUnderstanding of wireless communication standards like GSM, CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and their associated protocols.Industry Knowledge requirements:Mining and Mineral Processing (ideally)orOil and GasUtilities (Power Generation)Metals (Operations/ Production)Pulp and Paper OperationsAny heavy or process industry with a substantial physical asset baseExperience gained in large, complex, global companies is highly desirable.
