I&J is proudly South African and invests in, and empowers, the communities in which it operates.An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 2nd Engineer responsible for the safety, navigation, cleanliness and operation of a trawler and the total complement on board and who directs fishing operations of the vessel.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:EXPERIENCE:3 Years experience sailing as a 2nd Engineer on Fishing VesselsQUALIFICATIONS:Motorman Grade 1 or 2nd Engineer Fishing under 2000kwCOURSES COMPLETED: Annual MedicalAdvance Fire FightingPSSRCISCMarine Fire FightingMarine First AidJOB SPECIFICATION:KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:Watch Keeping DutiesAssist Chief Engineer in charge of safe running , maintenance and repair of all machinery on the vesselAssistance in Maintenance& servicing of machinery includes:Main engineAuxiliary engineDeck hydraulic winchesFactory hydraulicsFreon domestic and Refer plantPiano Heading MachineFlo Ice Machinery and Air Cond. PlantMust be able to use gas and arc welding plants safe and musthave good understanding of electricity.Responsible for general housekeeping of all engine roomAll electrical repairs and maintenanceAll admin work e.g. log sheets, running hours , work lists etc Safety Officer on boardIn the absence of Chief Engineer supervises Staff in engine room managed by chief engineer Achieve tons per sea day as per business plan.Assist in Supervising of, 3rd Engineer, Greasers (x2)
