National Nuclear Regulator (NNR)

The National Nuclear Regulator (NNR) is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive regulatory framework to safeguard people, property, and the environment from nuclear damage. With a mission to enforce safety standards and prevent nuclear accidents, the NNR ensures the protection of workers, the public, and the environment from the potential harmful effects of ionizing radiation. Operating under the oversight of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE), the NNR carries out various regulatory functions, including safety reviews, authorizations, inspections, enforcement, and emergency planning, to ensure the effective and efficient management of nuclear activities in line with international standards.
