National Credit Regulator (NCR)

The National Credit Regulator (NCR) plays a crucial role in promoting a fair and non-discriminatory marketplace for consumer credit in South Africa. With a mission to support the social and economic advancement of the country, the NCR regulates credit providers, credit bureaus, debt counsellors, and other entities to ensure responsible credit granting and usage. Under the oversight of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, the NCR enforces the provisions of the National Credit Act, conducts research, raises public awareness, and provides recommendations on consumer credit legislation.
