Land Claims Court (LCC)

The Land Claims Court (LCC) was established in 1996 to handle land restitution and land claims cases in South Africa. Its primary responsibility is to adjudicate legal issues and ensure that land is awarded to those who meet the statutory requirements for restitution. Additionally, the LCC addresses cases related to the Extension of Security Tenure Act and the Labour Tenants Act, aiming to protect farm dwellers and workers from mistreatment and unlawful evictions. As part of the Office of the Chief Justice, the LCC conducts hearings across the country to safeguard the rights of farm dwellers and workers within the framework of relevant legislation.
