The Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheries Bursaries 2024

The Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheries has initiated a financial assistance program in the form of bursaries for academically inclined students. This endeavor seeks to uplift potential young learners within the local communities. The bursaries, designated for the 2024 academic year, are available exclusively for learners contemplating full-time studies in the following fields:

Biodiversity and Conservation:

  • Biological Sciences (Degree / Honours BSc)
  • Natural Resource Management
  • Geography and Hydrology
  • Environmental Management/ Science
  • Nature Conservation

Chemicals and Waste Management:

  • Sustainable Development Studies
  • Environmental Management
  • Environmental Science
  • Waste Management (B Degree/ Masters/ Honours)

Climate Change and Air Quality and Sustainability Development:

  • Geography, Archaeology, and Environmental (BSc)
  • Environmental Science (BSc ND)
  • Environmental Management (BSc/ ND)

Successful beneficiaries of the Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheries bursaries will be eligible to receive coverage of up to R50 000. These funds will cover tuition expenses, prescribed study materials, monthly stipends, and numerous other school-related fees.

Eligibility Criteria

If you wish to apply for the Department of Environment, Forestry, and Fisheries Bursaries, candidates must meet specific requirements:

  • You must be a South African citizen.
  • You should be in Matric or have successfully completed your Matric.
  • Full-time pursuit of a qualification in one of the eligible fields.
