Transport Controller
Job Description
Woodlands Dairy (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Controller to join our team. In this important role, you will plan, coordinate, and monitor the smooth and efficient movement of goods. Your main goal will be to ensure that all deliveries are safe, on time, and cost-effective. You will work closely with our warehousing and transport teams, as well as other internal departments, to keep operations running smoothly.
This position requires a hands-on approach to managing daily transport activities. You will play a key part in optimizing our supply chain processes, reducing costs, and improving overall service delivery to our customers. Key Performance Areas
- Plan and optimize primary and secondary distribution routes, as well as truck loading slots, to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Monitor and track all shipments using advanced Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to ensure real-time visibility and quick response to any issues.
- Liaise effectively with transport service providers, internal departments, and customers to coordinate schedules and resolve any operational challenges.
- Analyze and improve Retail On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) KPI performance by identifying trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for enhancement.
- Investigate and resolve issues related to delays, damages, and pallet discrepancies involving CHEP and GLS systems, ensuring accountability and quick fixes.
- Verify transporter invoices, rates, purchase orders (POs), proofs of delivery (PODs), and prepare accurate payment bundles for finance processing.
- Support the implementation and ongoing use of TMS and KENAI systems to streamline transport operations and data management.
- Oversee on-site truck marshalling and loading priorities to maintain safety and efficiency in the yard and loading areas.
- Enforce health and safety compliance standards across all transport activities, promoting a safe working environment for all team members.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- A tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, or Supply Chain is preferred. Alternatively, Matric with at least 4 years of relevant experience in transport or logistics will be considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Microsoft 365, with the ability to use these tools for planning, reporting, and communication.
- Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills to handle complex transport scenarios effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and the adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- Hands-on experience with transportation software and KPI analysis to drive performance improvements.
- Shift work is required for this position, so flexibility with working hours is essential.

Procurement Superintendent

Woodlands Dairy (Pty) Ltd is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Procurement Superintendent to manage our procurement processes. In this role, you will take full ownership of sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management to ensure we have the right materials and services at the right time. You will also maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure all activities comply with our internal policies and external regulations, especially in areas like health and safety.
This position is crucial for supporting our operations in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. You will focus on efficient procurement of key items like Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and CHEP pallets, while handling administrative tasks to keep records accurate and up to date. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all purchase orders, monitor supplier performance, and handle existing contracts and agreements to ensure value for money and reliability.
- Ensure full compliance with PPE processes and Health and Safety regulations, safeguarding our workforce and operations.
- Maintain and update accurate PPE master data across various systems, including HR platforms, PPE management tools, and Business Central ERP.
- Manage departmental records for employee attendance, training sessions, and Health and Safety compliance to support audits and reporting.
- Handle disputes related to procurement and oversee documentation for any forced pallet movements to resolve issues efficiently.
- Place and manage daily pallet orders, track returns and credits, and reconcile invoices against physical stock counts for accuracy.
- Ensure the timely procurement and availability of goods to meet operational needs, with a particular focus on PPE and CHEP pallets to avoid disruptions.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Matric or equivalent qualification is required. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Procurement, or Supply Chain Management is preferred to bring advanced knowledge to the role.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a procurement or planning role within the FMCG or manufacturing sector, where you have dealt with high-volume purchasing.
- Knowledge of the CHEP pallet system is advantageous, as it will help in managing pallet logistics effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with strong skills in Excel (including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, and creating graphs) and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
- Proven experience in contract management and evaluating supplier performance to negotiate better terms and maintain quality standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to tackle procurement challenges and optimize processes.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment, communicating effectively with various stakeholders.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Business Central (BC), Business Intelligence tools, and QlikSense is essential for data-driven decision-making.
- A valid Code 8 driver’s license is required, as occasional travel or site visits may be necessary.
