Introducing the 2024 Wiphold

Wiphold is extending an invitation for prospective candidates to register for their bursary scheme, designed for those requiring immediate financial assistance to facilitate future academic pursuits. The initiative is open to applicants from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. If you are fortunate to be chosen, you will receive the necessary support to attain the academic qualification you aspire for. High-achieving students and those showcasing commendable personal traits are particularly encouraged to take up this opportunity.

The Wiphold Bursaries cover an array of prospective fields of study, including, but not limited to:

  1. B Com /Chartered Accounting
  2. Agriculture

Recipients of the Wiphold Bursaries receive coverage for most study expenses like tuition fees, prescribed study materials, housing costs, and a monthly stipend. The exact amount disbursed is contingent on the available funds. Bursary renewal is permitted for awardees maintaining consistent progress in their academic pursuits, subject to certain requisite activities and obligations.

Initial Criteria for Eligibility

Securing one of the Wiphold Bursaries necessitates meeting a specific set of prerequisites prior to submitting an application. The items enumerated below will determine eligibility for these bursaries. It is highly advised that all these requirements be met to boost the chances of a successful application, as failure to comply could lead to unfavorable outcomes. Here are the relevant criteria:

  1. African learners forming the primary applicant base
  2. Current matriculation students or matric qualifiers
  3. Enthusiasm towards becoming a Chartered Accountant, Engineer, Actuary, or Agriculturist
  4. Pursuit of any of the fields of study indicated above
  5. Mathematics and English scores of 70% or more, not including Maths Literacy (5 in the NSC Scale of Achievement)
  6. Enrollment in at least two universities (one of which should be the closest to your place of residence)

Application Process

To successfully apply, candidates must provide:

  • Their most recent photograph
  • All relevant testimonials, certificates or supportive evidence (certified)
  • Copies of parents/guardian’s wage statements (certified)
  • Grade 11 results or Matric results from the previous year (certified)
  • A concise self-written essay on personal and family background, career aspirations, and future plans
  • Detailed hand-written responses to specific questions such as your reason for pursuing a specific vocation and why you believe you have what it takes to succeed in it.

All necessary should be enclosed in the application packet. Incomplete applications may lead to immediate disqualification.

Deadline

The deadline for the Wiphold bursaries is 30th November 2023. Late submissions are strictly not accepted and it’s imperative to get yours in as soon as possible. Successful candidates are typically announced in January following the release of Matric results. However, provisional selections based on final Grade 11 results will be announced by 30th November. On the off chance that you don’t hear back by then, it’s safe to assume that your application was unsuccessful.
