
Counselling Psychology Internship (12 Months)
Position Overview
The Directorate of Student Development and Support at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) invites applications for four Counselling Psychology Internship positions based at our Pretoria West Campus. This 12-month professional development opportunity (Ref: 25/112) begins on 2 January 2026, offering hands-on experience in student support services within a higher education environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional counselling services to registered TUT students
- Develop and implement programs to enhance students’ academic and personal development
- Conduct psycho-educational workshops and group sessions
- Offer individual and group therapy at a local children’s home
- Maintain accurate records and reports in compliance with SDS protocols
- Collaborate effectively with campus support teams and external partners
Essential Requirements
Academic Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in MA Counselling Psychology program at accredited institution
- Valid HPCSA registration documents (submit certified copies)
Professional Competencies:
- Demonstrated counselling skills for individual/group interventions
- Excellent stress management and time management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards
