Position Overview
Job Title: Research Nurse
Department: Research Department
Location: Ndevana Community Research Site
Employment Type: Full-Time
Annual Salary: R396,292 – R474,156 (commensurate with qualifications & experience)
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs monitoring and physical examinations
- Perform specimen collection (blood, sputum) and process biological samples
- Administer contraceptive methods and family planning services
- Manage emergency equipment maintenance and medical supply inventory
Research Coordination
- Implement clinical trial protocols ensuring GCP compliance
- Maintain accurate case report forms and resolve data queries
- Coordinate participant referrals to healthcare facilities
- Report Adverse Events (AEs/SAEs) to medical officers
Community Engagement
- Conduct informed consent procedures and pre-/post-test counseling
- Lead community sensitization initiatives about research activities
- Translate study documents to isiXhosa when required
Mandatory Requirements
- Nursing Diploma/Degree with active SANC registration
- Minimum 2 years clinical experience + 1-2 years research experience
- Proficiency in isiXhosa and English (verbal/written)
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel
- Computer literacy in MS Office and electronic data systems
Preferred Qualifications
- GCP certification
- NIMART certification
- HIV/AIDS counselling certification
- FP implant/IUD insertion training
