Important Notes on Applications

Applications must be submitted using the prescribed Z83 form, which you can get from any Public Service Department or download from the DPSA website: https://www.dpsa.gov.za/newsroom/psvc/. The Z83 form must be signed, initialled, and dated by you. It should also come with a detailed curriculum vitae (CV). You do not need to submit certified copies of qualifications or other documents with your initial application. Only shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies of their qualifications and related documents before the interview date. These copies must not be older than six months.

If you use an incorrect or old version of the Z83 form, your application will be disqualified. When filling out the Z83:

  • Part A and Part B must be fully completed.
  • For Part C through Part G, there is limited space, so you can refer to your CV or write “Refer to CV” if needed. This is fine as long as your CV is attached and includes all the required details.
  • Initial page 1 of the Z83 and sign and date page 2.

Failure to follow these instructions could lead to your application being disqualified. If you are applying for more than one post, submit a separate Z83 form and CV for each position. If you apply for multiple posts on the same Z83, you will only be considered for the first post listed.

Applications can be sent via post, courier, hand delivery, or email. Late applications will not be accepted. According to Public Service Regulations 2016 (as amended), Regulations 57(c) and 67(9), the executive authority must verify all claims and conduct personnel suitability checks to ensure candidates are fit and proper for employment. Shortlisted candidates must be prepared for standard vetting and verification processes.

It is your responsibility to have foreign qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Due to the high volume of applications expected, we will not acknowledge receipt of applications. We will only contact shortlisted candidates. If you do not hear from us within three months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.

For Senior Management Service (SMS) posts, note the entry-level requirements: Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-Entry Programme as endorsed by the National School of Governance (NSG). This course is called the Certificate for Entry into SMS and is available at: https://www.thensg.gov.za/training-course/sms-pre-entry-programme/.

For emailed applications, submit everything in a single PDF document or one attachment per application to the email address specified for the position. The email and attachments should not exceed 15MB. It is your responsibility to ensure your application is successfully submitted.
