About the Role
Motsweding FM (SABC Radio Division) seeks an experienced Drama Producer to create compelling radio content that engages our Setswana-speaking audience. This role requires a creative leader to manage all aspects of radio drama production while ensuring alignment with broadcaster standards and audience expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual drama production plans aligned with station strategy
- Manage script development from concept to final production (assess submissions, provide feedback, guide writers)
- Lead casting processes and direct voice talent during recording sessions
- Collaborate with technical teams on sound design and post-production editing
- Develop multi-platform content strategies for digital extension of radio dramas
- Monitor audience feedback through research and public engagement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with SABC editorial policies, ICASA regulations, and copyright laws
- Manage drama department staff and external contractors
- Coordinate with commercial teams on sponsorship opportunities
Requirements
- National Diploma/Degree in Drama, Media Studies or related field (NQF 6)
- 3+ years’ radio production experience (drama specialization preferred)
- Expert fluency in Setswana (both written and spoken)
- Technical proficiency in audio production (Pro Tools required)
- Proven script development and editing capabilities
- Strong understanding of broadcast regulations and content standards
- Digital media production skills
- Project management certification/experience
