Job Overview
PPC Zimbabwe is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Operations to lead and oversee the performance of its three manufacturing sites. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong technical background, exceptional strategic thinking, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering operational excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and executing the long-term operational strategy, driving efficiency, productivity, and safety across all plants, while ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business goals. You will champion continuous improvement, enforce compliance with statutory and company standards, and drive initiatives that enhance plant performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- MBA or Master’s degree in Engineering will be an added advantage
- More than 5 years of senior management experience in cement or related manufacturing industry
- 5-8 years’ experience as Plant Manager in an integrated cement manufacturing plant
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and drive the long-term operational strategy for all manufacturing sites, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and strategic direction
- Apply the Enterprise Risk Management framework, tools, and practices to proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and report risks and opportunities across all plants and the wider business
- Stay informed on economic trends, legislation, competition, and industry developments locally and globally to anticipate and plan for factors influencing strategic objectives
- Build and develop technical skills and expertise for Plant turnaround initiatives
- Draw up business cases in support of identified strategic projects for business performance and growth and ensure value return as per agreed time frame
Operational Excellence
- Oversee the implementation of the Plant Performance Improvement Plan (PPIP) by the Plants and lead the achievement of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE)
- Drive cost management initiatives by monitoring key operational cost drivers, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring adherence to approved budgets
- Champion SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) management by promoting a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements, and integrating sustainable practices across all operations
- Identify, coordinate, and implement best-practice methodologies across all plants, guiding operations in the continuous review and improvement of practices, systems, and structures to enhance operational efficiency and support overall business objectives
Compliance & Governance
- Anticipate change and align reporting and information requirements at Group level. Forecast deviations and take long-term proactive action
- Monitor incorporation of legislative changes into best practices and systems. Promote and enforce a culture of statutory compliance at all Plants
- Ensure all cement products meet country technical specifications through effective quality oversight and control processes
- Ensure all legal appointments required under the Factories and Works Act and The Mines and Minerals Act are valid and up to date across all operational sites
Project & Resource Management
- Provide project management leadership and oversight to ensure timely execution and successful delivery of key operational and capital projects
- Provide oversight of all mining activities to ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable mining operations

Controller
Job Overview
PPC Group Support Services is seeking a dedicated Controller to join our finance team in Rosebank. This is a permanent position reporting directly to the Group Controller.
The Controller is responsible for preparing, consolidating, and reporting plant financial data for business objectives and decision-making. This role provides management accounts and financial information to the Materials business unit for reporting and decision making. You will be responsible for statutory compliance to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and other standards, financial governance, and provide oversight for various departments within the plant. Additionally, you will carry out plant costing calculations and prepare budgets for the plant, and conduct strategic plant calculation and analysis of business opportunities to support the Strategy Office in decision making.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting (NQF Level 7)
- Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA) qualification is advantageous
- Valid Driver’s licence code 8 with own vehicle
- 3-5 years relevant business experience working in a finance role
- 3-5 years experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing or mining environment
Duties and Responsibilities
Financial Control Management & Budgeting
- Coordinate budgeting activities at plant level and compile the annual plant budget for submission to line manager for review
- Coordinate completion of input packs and budget packs (BPC and SAP) and upload into SAP ECC and BPC
- Set up budget and new assessment cycles
- Manage 5-year budget planning processes
- Monitor expenditure against the approved budget, reporting on any deviations to the line manager and Business Control and Performance Department
- Budgeting coordinating, updating of budget files, consolidating, loading into BPC & SAP for the 3 Materials entities
Stakeholder Management and Business Partnerships
- Support plants in the formulation of their operational budgets
- Provide support to plants and materials businesses with financial data for making informed budgetary decisions
- Conduct project evaluation modelling for Cement blending & Materials BU’s

Foreman Electrical
Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Foreman Electrical to join our Coastal Business Unit in Port Elizabeth. This permanent position involves leading and managing the Electrical team and resources to ensure the safe operation of plant equipment in compliance with legal requirements, as well as achieving a high level of plant equipment reliability and availability.

Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance & Operational Excellence
- Maintenance optimization of plant equipment
- Supervision of Artisans and technical staff
- Ensure compliance to Legal, Quality, Health and Safety Standards
Business Intelligence & Problem Solving
- Perform Root-cause Analysis to rectify problem areas and poor maintenance practices
- Document and communicate findings to key individuals in support of Continuous Improvement using techniques such as FMEA, 5 Why, Fishbone, A4 and other methodologies
- Monitor and trend equipment condition to predict and prevent failures
Functional Planning & Scheduling
- Ensure that activities of the Engineering Department have minimal impact on Production by achieving optimum turnaround time on workorders (Mean Time to Repair)
- Provide input into the shutdown process and the shutdown post-mortem for Continuous Improvement purposes
- Allocate resources for the timely completion of all scheduled and un-scheduled work through short-term (2 weeks or more) resource planning and scheduling
- Assess and approve reactive non-urgent workorder requests
- Provide input, with Production personnel, into the Planning and Scheduling process for planned maintenance to maximize production run-time
Execution & Quality Assurance
- Ensure the cost effective and timely completion of workorders executed by artisans and their assistants
- Ensure that Operational Best Practices (OBP) are adhered to at all times
- Sign off on plant Temporary Change Log workorders and follow up on outstanding items
- Verify and sign off on intangible time booking
- Conduct regular scheduled over-inspections to ensure that work is performed to the correct standard
- Ensure that the Asset Care Process (ACP) is adhered to through execution of workorders and management of delays and backlog (workorder management)
Communication & Reporting
- Compile a weekly report of work loading, backlog, costs, call-outs and key engineering metrics or ratios
- Ensure that key Engineering Department metrics are reviewed in the team INVOCOM
- Apply Kambuku principles in daily operations
- Provide input into interdepartmental INVOCOMs
- Ensure that correct, accurate and timely key metrics feed into the weekly OPS reports
- Report factors, incidents and accidents that pose a business risk
Governance & Risk Management
- Adhere to SHE, legal, statutory and regulatory structures and frameworks and promote a culture of compliance
- Promote and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system
- Evaluate negative trends and introduce remedial solutions
- Comply with JAP audit requirements
- Drive and ensure that Asset Care Health Checks are entrenched in the maintenance process
- Comply with Ad-Hoc audit requirements and implement corrective actions
Inventory & Contractor Management
- Monitor critical spares and engineering stock item inventories, ensuring availability while minimising redundancy
- Ensure that parts of the correct specification are ordered and received into stock
- Monitor and control rotable spares
- Submit requisitions for contract labour and service providers
- Allocate work to Labour hire staff, contractors and service providers
- Ensure that contractors adhere to PPC asset care policies and procedures
- Reconcile contractor labour hours and authorise invoices for payment
