
Planning Officer Position at NSFAS
Position Overview
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) seeks a proactive Planning Officer to lead strategic planning processes and drive organizational alignment. This role ensures compliance with legislative frameworks while maintaining operational excellence through performance monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Reporting
- Develop and review NSFAS Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan (APP), and Operational Plans
- Coordinate organizational reporting cycles (monthly/quarterly/annual)
- Prepare parliamentary and executive committee reports with supporting evidence
- Implement Electronic Quarterly Performance Reporting System (eQPRS)
Performance Management
- Analyze audit findings to improve planning processes
- Conduct service delivery monitoring activities
- Evaluate program performance metrics
- Maintain audit-ready document systems
Stakeholder Coordination
- Facilitate interdepartmental collaboration
- Prepare executive-level presentations
- Manage relationships with internal/external auditors
- Guide business units in operational plan development
Minimum Requirements
- Education: NQF Level 7 qualification in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field
- Experience: 3+ years strategic planning experience with 2 years in monitoring & evaluation
- Technical Skills: Data analysis, report writing, project management
Preferred Qualifications
- NQF Level 8 in Data Science or Performance Auditing
- 5 years public sector planning experience
- Advanced knowledge of PFMA and Treasury Regulations
- Experience in education sector financial management
