Contract Duration: 3-year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: R193,359 per annum + 37% benefits in lieu
About the Opportunity:
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development seeks 231 dynamic individuals to assist in delivering essential agricultural services across seven provinces. This entry-level position offers hands-on experience in farm support, community development, and rural empowerment initiatives.
Key Requirements:
- 3-year Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 6 or higher)
- Valid registration with South African Council for Natural Scientific Professionals (SACNAP)
- Code B driver’s license (must be willing to travel to farms/projects)
- Basic understanding of agricultural extension methods
- Strong communication skills in English and local languages
- Computer literacy for reporting and record-keeping
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct farm visits and implement agricultural assistance programs
- Support farmers with crop/livestock management techniques
- Organize training workshops and farmers’ days
- Assist in developing farm business plans and food security projects
- Facilitate formation of agricultural cooperatives and associations
- Collect field data and submit monthly activity reports
- Promote sustainable farming practices and new technologies
