Position Summary
Job Title: Payroll Officer
Location: Pretoria, South Africa
Department: Finance Branch
Reporting To: Financial Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees
- Maintain payroll records with 100% accuracy and confidentiality
- Process statutory deductions (SARS PAYE, UIF, SDL) and submissions
- Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Prepare monthly financial reports and reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with PFMA, PPPFA, and Treasury Regulations
- Manage creditor payments and accounts payable functions
- Implement and maintain effective financial controls
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Accounting/Financial Management
- 3+ years payroll administration experience (Sage300/VIP required)
- 2+ years hands-on experience with SARS e-filing & Easyfile
- Advanced Excel skills and MS Office proficiency
- In-depth knowledge of payroll legislation and tax regulations
- Public sector finance experience (strong advantage)
