Position Overview

We seek a skilled Payroll and Management Accountant to ensure payroll compliance and support financial operations. This role reports to the Finance Manager and offers the opportunity to:

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll administration
  • Provide strategic financial insights
  • Maintain regulatory compliance
  • Contribute to organizational financial health

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

  • Manage payroll processing and distribution of employee documents
  • Handle SARS e-filing and employee pension administration
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and compliance documentation

Financial Management

  • Prepare financial reports for board and audit committees
  • Assist in annual financial statement compilation
  • Support budget preparation and monitoring

Strategic Support

  • Mentor finance interns and junior staff
  • Collaborate with internal departments on financial matters
  • Implement process improvements in financial operations

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • 3+ years’ relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • NQF Level 8 qualification
  • Professional accounting body membership
  • Experience in public sector/education environment

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency in SAGE 300 People & Accpac systems
  • Advanced knowledge of GRAP & PFMA regulations
  • Expertise in payroll tax compliance (SARS e-filing)
