About the Role

We’re seeking a Nuclear Engineering Analyst to conduct critical safety reviews and assessments for nuclear power plants. This role requires deep understanding of reactor design, operational safety protocols, and accident mitigation strategies within South Africa’s regulatory framework.

Key Requirements

  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in nuclear regulatory or power generation environments
  • Proven knowledge of nuclear safety principles including:
    • Reactor control systems
    • Defense-in-depth strategies
    • Accident analysis methodologies
    • Configuration control processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical assessments of nuclear plant designs and operations
  • Develop regulatory standards and safety guidelines
  • Participate in national and international nuclear safety forums
  • Represent NNR in stakeholder engagements
  • Support emergency preparedness exercises and safety audits
  • Review plant modifications and configuration changes
