JPC Facilities Cleaner

Short-Term Contract Position (EPWP)

This is a short-term contract role under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), lasting no longer than 8 months.

Remuneration: R150.00 per day (all-inclusive stipend)
Location: Regions A, B, C, D, E, F, and G within the City of Johannesburg

Minimum Requirements

  • A Grade 7 qualification or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in cleaning.
  • The ability to perform the physical demands of the job.

Primary Function

The main role is to deliver an efficient and effective cleaning service for buildings and public facilities. This ensures a high standard of cleanliness is maintained while following Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.

Key Performance Areas

  • Clean and disinfect taxi ranks, Rea Vaya stations, and trading areas.
  • Clean and disinfect sinks, countertops, toilets, floors, stairs, and other surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness in public convenience facilities, open public spaces, walkways, and similar areas.
  • Keep cleaning equipment clean and in good working order.

Leading Competencies

  • Basic ability to read and write.

Core Competencies

  • Knowledge of general housekeeping practices.
  • Understanding of Batho Pele principles and ethics (putting people first in public service).
  • A professional attitude and approach to work.
