Work Integrated Learner (Technical) at Transnet

Position Purpose

The Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme offers students and recent graduates hands-on workplace experience to apply their academic knowledge in real-world situations. This 12-month program enhances employability through practical training, mentorship, and exposure to industry-specific tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with specific projects within a department or workstream.
  • Perform routine operational tasks under supervision.
  • Support administrative functions, including documentation and reporting.

Learning & Development

  • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programs.
  • Shadow experienced professionals to gain practical insights.
  • Engage in problem-solving activities to develop analytical skills.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Interact with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand business needs.
  • Provide regular updates on assigned tasks and project progress.
  • Act as a central contact point for queries and assistance.

Research & Analysis

  • Conduct market research, data collection, and analysis to support business decisions.
  • Prepare reports and presentations using MS Office tools.
  • Assist in process improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical and professional standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all tasks.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric certificate.
  • Completed all theoretical coursework in one of the following disciplines: Electronics/Electrical (Heavy Current)/Mechanical/Civil/Industrial/Physical Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering.
  • South African citizenship required.
  • Age between 18-35 years.
  • Preference will be given to people with disabilities.
  • No bursary obligation with another company.
  • Proof of confirmation/letter from the institution (most recent).
  • Proof of certified Matric certificate, Academic Record, and ID.
