About the Role
The Department of Health is looking for a dedicated General Assistant to support the Asset Directorate. The successful candidate will help manage and track assets, maintain records, and assist with logistics and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with physical verification of assets, including mapping, scanning, and identification.
- Ensure new assets are barcoded, logged, and recorded accurately in the system.
- Support the disposal of redundant, obsolete, or damaged furniture and equipment.
- Help with receiving, issuing, and moving equipment within the department.
- Report damaged or missing items and aid in the administration of theft/loss cases.
- Maintain compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and departmental policies.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Computer literacy – proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of Supply Chain Management or Asset Management processes is an advantage.
