Wildlife Driver: Five-Month Fixed-Term Contract

South African National Parks (SANParks) is a leading conservation and scientific research organization dedicated to preserving South Africa’s natural environment. We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Wildlife Driver for a five-month fixed-term contract in the Northern Cape.

Job Details

Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification
  • One year of experience in the wildlife capture industry (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of wildlife industry standard operating procedures
  • Valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
  • Two years of experience driving a Code 14 fixed truck or articulated combination truck with trailer (Horse & Trailer)
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and after hours
  • Good physical health
  • Understanding of basic Health & Safety principles
  • Own transport and accommodation (no staff housing available)
  • No criminal record (SAPS clearance will be conducted)

Responsibilities

  • Drive LDV, trucks, tractors, and vehicle trailers as required
  • Transport animals in compliance with relevant legislation
  • Assist in capture, holding, and relocation operations
  • Maintain capture vehicles and equipment
  • Care for captured wildlife
