Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Good communication skills in speaking and writing.
  • Ability to enter, organize, sort, and check the accuracy of data collected daily, weekly, and monthly. Prepare reports for submission to the coordinator or supervisor.
  • Basic knowledge and training on HIV.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Projects.
  • Basic training in HIV/AIDS counseling.
  • Ability to lead a team of field workers.
  • Ability to plan and combine team plans.
  • Ability to carry out and monitor the work of field workers.
  • Experience working in communities and leading teams.
  • Must be a Midvaal resident, based in the specific ward and community served (specific CCC and Ward Number).
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old.
  • At least 1 year of experience in public service or a non-profit organization.

Duties

  • Build communities and individuals who are knowledgeable about AIDS at the ward level.
  • Reduce new HIV infections through education, communication, and services that encourage behavior change.
  • Lessen the social and economic effects of AIDS on affected and infected families by offering care and support.
  • Increase support for people on Tuberculosis and Antiretroviral Treatment to help them stick to their treatment.
  • Promote safe and healthy lifestyles through education on HIV/AIDS and related health topics.
  • Encourage openness and acceptance for people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Promote municipal governance initiatives and services related to HIV/AIDS, including key programs such as HIV Counseling and Testing, Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), Antiretroviral Treatment (ART), and other health services.
  • Identify and refer Orphans and Vulnerable Children, as well as child-headed households.
  • Lead a team of field workers, plan and combine team plans, and carry out and monitor their activities.
  • Perform other related tasks as requested by management.
  • Note: The position is fixed-term, based on the availability of grant funding.
