Job Summary

An opportunity exists for a skilled ultra-heavy motor vehicle driver to deliver goods to various clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate
  • Grade 10 literacy level (verbally and numerically literate)
  • Code EC driver’s license with valid PrDP (Dangerous Goods Permit)
  • At least 3 years of experience driving an ultra-heavy vehicle
  • Must be 25 years of age or older
  • Willing to work weekends and public holidays
  • Knowledge of defensive driving techniques
  • Understanding of vehicle components, functions, and locations
  • Familiarity with reporting emergencies and defects
  • Skills in vehicle inspections and using a fire extinguisher
  • Ability to maximize vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency
  • Experience with vehicle loading techniques

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare the vehicle for trips and operate ultra-heavy duty vehicles safely.
  • Load, transport, and offload goods.
  • Handle required documentation and perform related tasks.
  • Follow all reasonable instructions from the supervisor.
  • Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Maintain a safe driving record and clean criminal record.
  • Keep the vehicle, uniform, and personal protective equipment clean and in good condition.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines.
  • Successfully complete medical evaluation, USCS training modules, induction processes, practical driving evaluation, and criminal record verification.
  • Ensure the vehicle is not overloaded according to the National Road Traffic Act.
  • Manage offloading by operating equipment or supervising the process.
  • Secure the load before departure.
  • Open and close tarpaulins as needed.
  • Interact with customers in a professional and efficient manner.
