Town Planner

  • Salary: Task grade 12 of category 1 Municipality.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric certificate;
  • National Diploma or Degree in Town and Regional Planning;
  • 3 years’ experience in Municipal Planning;
  • Computer literacy skills, including proficiency in Microsoft applications;
  • Professional registration with the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN) is an added advantage;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Good communication skills.

Key Performance Areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, organizing, coordinating, managing, and controlling activities in the Planning component, including strategic and spatial planning, development administration, and information management;
  • Compiling Spatial Development Frameworks (SDF) as part of Integrated Development Plan (IDP) processes;
  • Coordinating and developing presentations and supporting materials for all public engagements;
  • Providing advice, assistance, and support on town and regional planning issues;
  • Supporting participating municipalities in the district on town and regional planning issues, as approved by the respective Heads of Planning;
  • Coordinating land use based on the Integrated Development Plan and Land Use Management Systems;
  • Formulating and revising policies, by-laws, and Town Planning Schemes related to planning and development.
