Education: Matric + NTC3 Certification (Motor Mechanics/Panel Beating)
Field: Engineering/Technical
Role Purpose:
Coordinate repairs and maintenance for the Government Motor Transport (GMT) fleet of 6,800 vehicles.
Minimum Requirements:
– NTC3 certification as Motor Mechanic or Panel Beater
– 6+ years’ hands-on experience in fleet maintenance/repairs
– Valid C1 driver’s license with PRDP
Preferred Qualification:
– Certified Panel Beating qualification
Key Responsibilities:
– Diagnose vehicle faults and approve repair requests
– Evaluate repair quotes and monitor vendor compliance
– Conduct quality checks on mechanical/bodywork repairs
– Manage client complaints regarding repair quality
– Perform vehicle inspections and pre-auction assessments
– Support VIP vehicle maintenance needs
– Maintain repair documentation and supplier records
Required Skills:
– Proficiency in vehicle systems (mechanical/bodywork)
– Knowledge of Public Service regulations and Road Traffic Act
– Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
– Computer literacy and organizational skills
– Ability to work under pressure with clear communication
