It continues to operate under the Standards Act, 2008 (Act No. 29 of 2008) as the national institution for promoting and maintaining standardization and quality in South Africa.

Purpose Statement

To provide valuable certification services to the department and division through technical expertise and reviews. These services must meet the requirements of accreditation, SANS/ISO standards, and SABS policies, processes, and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • National Diploma or Diploma in Environmental Management, Energy Management, or Occupational Health and Safety (NQF Level 6).
  • SAATCA registration is an advantage.

Work Experience

  • 3 years of experience in Environmental Management, Energy Management, or Occupational Health and Safety at an operational level.
  • Knowledge of systems certification protocols is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Management

  • Review sales applications from existing customers.
  • Check the planning, scheduling, and execution of audits to ensure they align with client and SABS requirements.
  • Examine audit reports based on the required scope of work.
  • Perform on-site peer reviews of auditors when needed.
  • Review submissions to accreditation bodies according to accreditation, ISO, and SABS requirements.
  • Offer technical support to guide the quotation process for new clients and permit extensions through technical reviews.
  • Assist the Sales Business Unit with technical expertise for clients when required.
  • Submit all relevant reports on time and within the scope of control.
  • Contribute to developing and executing the Certification Systems Operational Plan (6-month view) to meet capacity and requirements for new and existing customers.
  • Provide subject matter expertise as a Technical Reviewer and CTC member.
  • Help CTCs function effectively.

Risk and Compliance Management

  • Help identify and follow fraud controls, risk prevention principles, governance, and compliance processes to manage risks.
  • Support internal and external audits and regulatory requirements by providing evidence.
  • Maintain quality risk management standards in line with regulations.
  • Enforce Service Level Agreements to minimize business risks and ensure continuity.
  • Follow all relevant laws, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures across the organization.
  • Provide technical expertise on schemes to ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations, share knowledge, and protect the organization’s reputation.
  • Mentor, coach, and transfer skills to staff on systems and product schemes.
  • Represent the organization in committees and task teams when required.
  • Convene, chair, and attend meetings, and present performance and business information to stakeholders as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Resolve queries and problems within your control and agreed time frames.
  • Follow up on unresolved queries and complaints when necessary.
  • Liaise with stakeholders for follow-up information required for tender requests.
  • Offer subject-matter advocacy and expertise to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage internal and external relationships to implement certification audit best practices across the organization.
