Sushi Assistant

We are looking for a dedicated Sushi Assistant to join our team. You will prepare and produce sushi products to meet our high quality standards and food safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Experience in cutting and filleting fish
  • Proven skills in preparing fish-related products
  • Good knowledge of different types of fish
  • Ability to communicate in English

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of ingredients and recipe specifications
  • Food safety compliance and training
  • Understanding of various sushi recipes
  • Business-minded approach
  • Customer orientation
  • Ethical responsibilities
  • Knowledge of relevant systems
  • Sushi onboarding program
  • Understanding of production cards and plans
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Production:

  • Follow the production plan to support sales growth and reduce waste weekly
  • Prepare sushi according to the production plan while keeping the work area clean

Sales, Turnover, and Gross Margin:

  • Help prepare upcoming promotional lines with the Sushi Chef

Administration:

  • Assist with monthly stock-takes
  • Scan waste daily

Food Safety:

  • Follow food safety procedures
  • Maintain hygiene standards
  • Keep the cold chain intact at all times
  • Prevent cross-contamination in the department

Self-Management:

  • Live and promote Pick n Pay values every day
  • Stay updated on new laws and developments
  • Take ownership of your tasks and manage yourself effectively
  • Maintain a positive attitude and welcome feedback
