Job Purpose

The role involves supervising and monitoring the execution of arboriculture maintenance work in parks and open spaces. This includes transporting materials, equipment, and personnel to and from work sites.

Duties

• Receive and execute work orders from superiors, arranging vehicles, materials, and personnel as needed.
• Plan and prioritize tasks, including site visits, and clarify specific requirements for execution.
• Address public complaints and resolve issues.
• Inspect vehicle safety devices and report defects to superiors.
• Set up safety signage and manage traffic and pedestrian flow.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of materials and ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Transport personnel, materials, and equipment to specific locations.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Operate vehicles and equipment like cranes and cherry pickers for tasks.
• Manage material usage and offloading for maintenance work.
• Accurately record details of activities for personnel, time, and material allocation.
• Supervise and guide staff, monitor attendance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain the designated vehicle and log kilometers according to procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 qualification
• Valid Code EC1 driver’s license with PrDP
• Certification for operating trucks and heavy-duty equipment (Code C53)
• 24 – 36 months of relevant experience
• Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages in the Western Cape
• Competencies in vehicle safety, driving behavior, quality orientation, service delivery orientation, and interpersonal communication
• Personal competencies including accountability, resilience, and teamwork
