Staff Nurse Grade 1 -3 (5 Months Contract) – Chris Hani District Jobs

Requirements:

• A qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
• Current registration with SANC as a Staff Nurse.
• Grade 1: No experience required.
• Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Staff Nurse.
• Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Staff Nurse.

Duties:

• Perform duties and functions with skill under the direct supervision of a Professional Nurse, as required by the Nursing Act.
• Provide nursing care, which may include various tasks that are structured and clearly defined. This includes:
• Carry out nursing care plans for patients.
• Monitor vital signs and observe reactions to medication and treatments.
• Promote and maintain hygiene, comfort, and reassurance for patients.
• Supervise and maintain fluid balance, oxygen, and sensory functions of patients.
• Promote healing of wounds, fractures, and protect the skin.
• Prepare for and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures performed by a registered professional.
• Prepare for and assist with ward-specific procedures and anaesthetics.
• Care for dying and deceased patients.
• Direct relatives or friends to the appropriate person for inquiries or in cases of bereavement.
• Assist the sister-in-charge in providing a safe and therapeutic environment that supports standard procedures. Occasionally, suggest possible courses of action based on these procedures.
• Provide nursing assistance to medical and other nursing professionals.
