  • Grade 1: R220 614 – R250 500 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 2: R262 287 – R298 932 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 3: R306 798 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)

Requirements:

  • A qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Staff Nurse.
  • Current registration with SANC as a Staff Nurse.
  • Grade 1: No experience required.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Staff Nurse.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Staff Nurse.

Duties:

  • Perform duties and functions with skill under the direct supervision of a Professional Nurse, as required by the Nursing Act.
  • Provide nursing care, which may include various tasks that are planned and mostly clear, such as:
  • Carry out nursing care plans for patients.
  • Check vital signs and watch for reactions to medication and treatments.
  • Help maintain hygiene, comfort, and reassurance for patients.
  • Oversee and keep track of fluid balance, oxygen, and sensory functions of patients.
  • Support healing of wounds and fractures, and protect skin.
  • Prepare for and assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures done by registered professionals.
  • Prepare for and assist with ward-specific procedures and anesthetics.
  • Care for dying and deceased patients.
  • Guide relatives or friends to the right person for questions or in cases of loss.
  • Help the sister-in-charge create a safe and supportive environment for standard nursing practices.
  • Occasionally choose actions based on standard procedures.
  • Assist medical and other nursing professionals with their work.
