Qualification and Experience:

  • Relevant Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Finance
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Procurement / Supply Chain Management in a large and complex business environment
  • At least 2 years of managerial experience is an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of Transnet’s mandate and business
  • Driver’s license (Code 8)

Position Purpose:

  • Support alignment across Transnet Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to achieve strategic objectives and maximize value creation.
  • Provide strategic support to oversight and monitoring of departmental business to ensure strategic impact and results.
  • Assist the Manager: Strategic Support with special projects, operational requests, and parliamentary questions as required.
  • Ensure all submissions to governance structures comply with strategic objectives and company protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement integrated programs and initiatives to meet business requirements.
  • Support effective short, medium, and long-term planning across Procurement functions, including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Communicate strategies, embed risk awareness, and ensure compliance with policies and legislation.
  • Support the development of inputs for the Corporate Plan and Integrated Report.
  • Obtain and analyze business data to inform decision-making and ensure compliance.
  • Implement reporting templates and performance dashboards for effective monitoring.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to enhance Procurement performance and resolve queries.
  • Support budget development and expenditure monitoring for the CPO office.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and manage follow-up actions.

Competencies:

  • Assist in implementing the Governance Framework in SCM.
  • Ensure compliance with SCM policies, legislation, and the Delegations of Authority Framework.
  • Support the implementation of Supply Chain Manuals and Code of Ethics.
  • Provide administrative support for Governance in SCM as required.
