We are seeking a Specialist: Continuous Improvement to join our team in Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Position Purpose:

  • Lead the development and execution of continuous improvement projects across Transnet’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) function.
  • Use data analytics, process mapping, and optimization techniques to identify and address operational inefficiencies.
  • Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to align with business objectives.
  • Create a robust reporting system to track progress and provide updates on continuous improvement projects to stakeholders.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior management and governance bodies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the SCM chapter in the Corporate Plan and track performance metrics.
  • Develop a structured framework for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices in analytics and governance.
  • Validate data accuracy through quality assurance processes.
  • Provide actionable recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to foster continuous improvement efforts.
  • Develop and maintain a dictionary of metrics, KPIs, and benchmarks.
  • Assess risks and provide mitigation strategies within the SCM function.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or equivalent.
  • 8 years of experience in performance management and reporting, with 3 years at management level.
  • Proficiency in data analytics and governance.
  • Trustworthy and honest, with adherence to the National Credit Act Amendment 19.

Additional Requirements:

  • Driver’s license (Code 8).
  • Willingness to travel as required.

  • Behavioral: Strategic thinking, leadership, relationship management, and corporate governance.
