Job Purpose
To provide advice and guidance on conducting audits. Independently plan and execute complex audits across multiple tax types, periods, and risks. Understand how risks affect other tax areas, while following all legal requirements.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualification and Experience Required
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Accounting, Tax, or Audit, plus 8-10 years of audit experience, including 3-4 years at an operational specialist level.
Alternative
- Senior Certificate (NQF 4) plus 15 years of experience in a tax or audit environment, including 3-4 years at an operational specialist level.
Minimum Functional Requirements
- A Higher Diploma in Tax or a Law Degree is an added advantage.

- Conduct high-standard audits (plan, execute, finalize) following policies, standards, procedures, and legislation.
- Complete audits and disputes on time, in line with the SARS service charter.
- Assist in debt collection by providing information for efficient recovery of assessed amounts.
- Build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders to improve collective performance.
- Offer technical guidance and training to team members.
- Identify initiatives to boost compliance and refer them to case selection.
- Spot changes needed in legislation to close loopholes.
