Position Purpose:
The Senior Specialist: Corporate Finance will assess investment opportunities and projects to determine their commercial viability and alignment with Transnet’s strategic goals. You will also recommend optimal funding structures for these investments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate investment opportunities and provide recommendations on financial viability.
  • Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Build relationships with financial institutions and advisors.
  • Review financial models to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Conduct due diligence for investments and ensure projects meet Transnet’s strategic objectives.
  • Guide internal and external financial teams for project appraisals.
  • Use market and economic knowledge to identify risks and recommend solutions.
  • Negotiate and recommend financial structures for investment deals.
  • Support legal teams in drafting commercial agreements and review documents.
  • Monitor investment performance and recommend adjustments.
  • Assist in benchmarking financial ratios and updating inputs for WACC calculations.
  • Contribute to policy development and governance activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BCom degree, CA, or CFA required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of finance experience, with 4 years in complex financial deals.
  • Experience in corporate finance and private equity required.
  • Strong understanding of finance, trustworthiness, and compliance with the National Credit Act.
