Position Summary

We seek a Storage Systems Engineer to support the design and maintenance of enterprise storage systems for our telescope operations. This role focuses on ensuring high-performance data infrastructure through technical maintenance and collaborative engineering.

Core Responsibilities

• Maintain enterprise storage systems across physical and cloud environments
• Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations
• Troubleshoot storage-related technical issues
• Maintain system documentation and operational procedures
• Support infrastructure improvement projects

Requirements

Education:

• National Diploma + 7 yrs experience OR
• Bachelors Degree + 4-6 yrs experience OR
• Masters + 3 yrs experience OR
• PhD + 1 yr experience

Technical Skills:

• Proven SAN/storage system administration
• Experience with server hardware maintenance
• Familiarity with Linux environments
• Basic network diagnostics skills
• Knowledge of containerized systems (Kubernetes/Docker)

Key Competencies:

• Hardware troubleshooting and repair capabilities
• IT asset management experience
• Problem-solving in mission-critical environments
• Clear technical communication skills

Operational Requirements

• Understanding of IT security protocols
• Knowledge of data center safety standards
• Ability to work in Agile team environments
