Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and about 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to industrial, mining, commercial, agricultural, and residential customers and redistributors. Additional power stations and major power lines are being built to meet rising energy needs.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the site.
  • Handle scope, time, costs, resources, and risks.
  • Ensure health and safety, environmental, and quality compliance and improvement.
  • Lead and manage human resources.
  • Manage communication and stakeholders.

Skills

  • Strong management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage conflict.
  • Strong leadership skills (plan, direct, implement, control, review).
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing or verbally.
  • Ability to negotiate, facilitate, and influence interactions with employees, clients, suppliers, and third parties.

Knowledge

  • Good understanding, technical knowledge, and experience in the construction industry and relevant standards and specifications (SANS, etc.).
  • Good knowledge and understanding of legislative acts (BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA, OHSACT, etc.).
  • Project management principles.
  • Understanding of financial management related to projects.
  • Computer literate (MS Office Suite, scheduling software, financial systems).

Minimum Requirements

  • Relevant degree or diploma in Electrical/Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Quantity Surveying.
  • Project Management training is an added advantage.
  • SACPCMP registration is an added advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience in a site management role on a construction site, in addition to study time for the qualification.
